Frequently asked questions
Is Chippin free to use?
Yes β creating wishlists and adding items is completely free. There are no subscription fees or monthly charges. Payment processor fees (e.g. Stripe's standard 1.4β2.9% + 30Β’) apply when contributions are made, but those are charged by the payment processor, not Chippin.
Do contributors need to create an account?
No. Anyone with your share link can view your list and contribute without registering or logging in. Only the person creating and managing wishlists needs an account.
How does group funding work?
Any item can be funded by multiple contributors. Each person chooses an amount (above a configurable minimum), pays securely via Stripe, and the progress bar on the item updates in real time. Once the item is fully funded, it's marked as complete and no further contributions are accepted.
Can I add items without a URL?
Yes. Use the 'Add manually' option to add any item with a custom title, description, price, and either an uploaded photo or an image URL. This is great for experiences, services, or offline purchases.
What currencies are supported?
Chippin currently supports US Dollar (USD) and Thai Baht (THB). You can switch between them using the toggle in the top navigation bar. More currencies are planned.
How do I receive the money contributed?
Connect your Stripe account in Settings β Payments and contributions will be paid directly into your Stripe balance, which you can transfer to your bank account. You can also add a PayPal email or Square access token as alternative payment options.
Can I have multiple wishlists?
Yes β there's no limit to how many wishlists you can create. Keep separate lists for your birthday, Christmas, and any other occasions. Each list gets its own unique share link.
What happens when an item is fully funded?
The item's status changes to 'Fully Funded' and a confetti animation plays. No further contributions can be made toward that item. You can then arrange to receive the physical item and mark it as 'Received' to archive it.
Can I keep my list private?
Yes. New lists default to public (accessible via share link) but you can make a list private from the edit page. Private lists are only visible to you when logged in.

Absolutely. Chippin is built mobile-first and works beautifully on phones and tablets. Contributors can browse wishlists and contribute from any device without installing anything.
