Creating & managing lists
A list is a collection of items for a single occasion โ a birthday, Christmas, a wedding, or any event where you'd like gifts.
Create a new list
From the dashboard, click New list (top right or sidebar).
Enter a title for your list (e.g. "Sarah's 30th Birthday").
Choose an occasion: Birthday, Christmas, or Other.
Optionally add a date, description, and cover image.
Click Create list. Your new list is now active and ready to share.
Edit a list
Go to My lists and click on the list you want to edit.
Click the Edit button (pencil icon) near the list title.
Update the title, occasion, date or description and click Save.
Archive a list
Archiving removes a list from your active view and makes it invisible to contributors, but doesn't delete it. Good for past occasions.
Open the list you want to archive.
Click the Archive button.
The list moves to your archived section and its public share link stops working.
Delete a list
Open the list and click Delete list (in the list settings or edit screen).
Confirm the deletion. This permanently removes the list and all its items.
Adding items
Items are the individual products or experiences on your list. You can add them by pasting a product URL (Chippin auto-fills the details) or by entering them manually.
Add an item from a URL
Open your list and click Add item.
Paste a product URL from any shop (Amazon, ASOS, eBay, Lazada, etc.) into the URL field.
Click Fetch details. Chippin will automatically extract the title, description, image, and price.
Review the details, adjust the price if needed, then click Add to list.
Add an item manually
Open your list and click Add item.
Leave the URL blank (or add it as a reference) and fill in the title, description, price, and optionally an image URL.
Click Add to list.
Edit an item
Click on the item you want to edit.
Click the edit icon and update the details.
Click Save.
Remove an item
Click the delete icon on an item card.
The item is marked as removed and disappears from your public list. Contributors can no longer contribute toward it.
Reorder items
Drag and drop items within your list to set the order your contributors see them.
Mark an item as purchased
Once you've received and purchased an item, mark it as purchased to let contributors know it's been sorted.
Open the item and click Mark as purchased.
The item shows a "Purchased" badge on your list.
Sharing your list
Each active list has a unique public share link. Anyone with the link can view your list and contribute โ no account required.
Get your share link
Open your list from the dashboard.
Click Share list or the copy icon next to the list URL.
The link is copied to your clipboard. Share it via WhatsApp, iMessage, email, or any other channel.
What contributors see
When someone opens your share link they can see:
- Your list title and occasion
- All items with titles, images, prices, and funding progress
- How much each item still needs
- A Contribute button on each item
Contributing to a list
Anyone can contribute to a Chippin list โ no account needed. Contributions go directly toward a specific item.
How to contribute
Open the share link the wishlist owner sent you.
Browse the items and click Contribute on the item you'd like to fund.
Enter the amount you'd like to give (you can contribute any amount, even a partial amount).
Enter your name and optionally a message for the recipient.
Choose a payment method and complete the payment.
You'll see a confirmation screen. The wishlist owner is notified automatically.
Partial contributions
You don't need to fund an entire item. Multiple people can chip in smaller amounts until the item is fully funded. For example, if a pair of headphones costs $120 and three friends each contribute $40, the item reaches 100% and is marked as fully funded.
Tracking funding progress
Each item shows a progress bar and the amount still needed. When an item hits 100%, confetti fires and it's marked Fully funded. The wishlist owner can see a breakdown of all contributions on their dashboard.
Anonymous contributions
During checkout you can tick Contribute anonymously. Your name won't be shown to the wishlist owner, but the payment is still processed normally.
Payments & Square
Chippin processes contributions through Square, a leading PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. Your card details are never seen or stored by Chippin.
Supported payment methods
- Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
- Apple Pay and Google Pay (where supported)
- Cash App Pay
Supported currencies
Chippin currently supports USD (US Dollar) and THB (Thai Baht). Use the currency toggle in the navigation bar to switch. The wishlist owner sets the currency for their list; contributors pay in that currency.
Processing fees
Chippin is free to use. Square's standard payment processing fees apply to each transaction (typically 2.6% + 10ยข for card-present, or 2.9% + 30ยข for online). These fees are charged by Square, not Chippin, and are deducted from the contribution amount.
Refunds
Chippin does not issue refunds directly. If you believe a payment was made in error, contact the wishlist owner or reach out to support within 7 days of the transaction.
Payment security
All payments go through Square's PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant infrastructure. Chippin never stores card numbers, CVVs, or full payment details. HTTPS is enforced on all pages.
Chrome extension
The Chippin Chrome extension lets you add any product to your wishlist with one click โ without leaving the shop you're browsing.

Click Add to Chrome and confirm the permissions.
The Chippin icon (chipmunk) appears in your Chrome toolbar.

If you're not signed in, you'll be prompted to log in.

The product title, image, price, and URL are auto-filled. Adjust if needed and click Add to list.

The extension requests access to the current tab so it can read the page title, URL, and OG meta tags to auto-fill item details. It does not read browsing history, passwords, or any other page data.

FAQ
Is Chippin free?
Yes. Creating an account, building wishlists, and sharing them is completely free. Square's standard payment processing fees apply when contributions are made, but those are charged by Square, not Chippin.
Do contributors need an account?
No. Anyone with your share link can browse your list and contribute using just their name, email, and payment details. No account required.
Can I have multiple wishlists?
Yes. You can create as many lists as you like โ one for your birthday, one for Christmas, one for a house move, etc.
What happens when an item is fully funded?
The item shows a "Fully funded" badge and a confetti celebration fires on screen. No further contributions can be made toward that item.
Can I set a minimum contribution amount?
Yes. When adding or editing an item, you can set a minimum contribution amount. Contributors will be prompted to give at least that amount.
Is Chippin mobile-friendly?
Yes. Chippin is built mobile-first and works on any device. Contributors can browse lists and contribute from phones or tablets.
What currencies are supported?
Currently USD (US Dollar) and THB (Thai Baht). More currencies are planned.
Can I use Chippin for a group gift for someone else?
Yes. Create a list on the recipient's behalf, add items for them, and share the link with everyone who wants to contribute.
How do I receive the money?
Contributions are processed via Square and paid out to the bank account connected to your Square account. Set up or check your Square dashboard for payout settings.
What if a product URL stops working?
Chippin saves the title, description, and image at the time you add the item, so the item card still looks correct even if the original URL changes. You can edit the URL at any time.
